The Difference between Mochin of Shavuot and that of Shabbat at Minchah
239. The Difference between Mochin of Shavuot and that of Shabbat at Minchah
There is a difference between Shavuot [Feast of Weeks]—considered the ascent of ZA to Arich Anpin, to Behinat Dikna—and Shabbat [Sabbath], during Mincha [midday prayer]—which is an ascent to Arich Anpin, too. Shavuot is considered Mochin de Hochma from YESHSUT, meaning from Bina that returns to being Hochma. Conversely, (Shabbat) is considered GAR de Bina, considered the actual Hochma. It is regarded as not having left the Rosh, and that Mocha Stima’a is dressed in it, which is GAR de Hochma and not VAK.
Because she is GAR, she cannot… unless from below upward, without any expansion downward. This is why she is regarded as female light, since she has no expansion below. This is why Shabbat is considered Nukva.
A good day, however, is considered ZAT de Bina, regarded as VAK—it has expansion below. Hence, even after all the ascents in reality, the ladder of degrees still does not change.
He said that the reason people respect a good day more than Shabbat, although Shabbat is a higher degree, is that a good day is ZAT de Bina, which is revealed below, while Shabbat is considered GAR de Bina, where there is no revealing below. But certainly, the degree of Shabbat is far higher than a good day.
