Tiberias of Our Sages, Good Is Your Sight
130. Tiberias of Our Sages, Good Is Your Sight
I heard on Adar 1, February 21, 1947, on a trip to Tiberias
“Tiberias of our sages, good is your sight.” Seeing means wisdom. Good means that he can be awarded wisdom there. And Rabbi Shimon Bar-Yochai was purifying the markets of Tiberias. The Tuma’a [impurity] of the dead, that is, of the will to receive, means “the wicked, in their lives, are called ‘dead.’” And all impurities belong only to Hochma [wisdom]. Hence, in Tiberias, where there is the quality of Hochma, the market had to be purified.
