Merging of the Body
769. Merging of the Body
Man’s nature is according to the merging of the body, as it is written in The Zohar that there are four elements called “fire, wind, water, and dust.” This has nothing to do with the evil inclination.
It is known that it is impossible to change nature. However, man can use nature for things that bring correction to the world, meaning to use each attribute for something that brings correction to the world and not destruction to the world, similar to corporeal things applied in the corporeal world.
For example, it is known that fire is harmful. If there is a fire somewhere, the fire consumes and burns bodies and property. And yet, if we use fire where it is needed, then fire gives light at night, warms the house in the winter, and cooks, and so forth.
We see that even the most harmful thing, if it is used in a manner of correction, makes the world benefit from the fire instead of running away from it.
This rule applies to everything. It is like the rain (Rosh Hashanah 17). If a drop is sentenced to be a fool, and He did not say whether righteous or wicked, how can one be righteous if he is a fool?
1) Why was he sentenced to be a fool? It comes from the merging of elements.
2) Why did not everyone have a good merging, so they would be able to advance? Answer: In order to show that the Creator is not limited, that He can help only the good ones who have good qualities. Rather, He helps everyone, as it is written, “The Good Who Does Good to the bad and to the good.”
