889. The Quality of Mercy
The Creator sits on the throne of judgment, meaning He reveals Himself to the lower ones. “Merciful” means that a person should engage in the quality of bestowal. “Blow the Shofar [festive horn] of a ram,” etc., meaning when will I reach the deeds of my fathers, meaning he offered himself to an authority that is completely to bestow.
The thing is that a person must be rewarded with an order of work. Malchut, he accepts the burden of the kingdom of heaven. “Memories,” meaning one should give the good Kli [vessel], as it is written, “My heart overflows with a good thing,” “He who has a good eye will be blessed.” With what? With a Shofar, as it is written in the Midrash, “With a Shofar you will renew your works,” meaning with a Shofar. “A throne of judgment” means it is narrow and he cannot receive, while the quality of mercy is called “broadening.”
