Rabash / Man’s Nature

856. Man’s Nature

We should understand that although man’s nature is only in self.love, and that which is against it is hard for him to do, to the point that all the organs are against it, but there is the matter of coercion. In other words, the nature is that when he engages in Torah and Mitzvot [commandments], he learns against his will, meaning that he wants it to be only for the sake of the Creator.

At that time, he learns and thinks only about studies that speak of the matter of bestowal. Although the body disagrees, through labor he exerts himself and forces his body to engage with this intention, although his heart’s desire disagrees with this intention.
