822. A Handmaid Who Is Heir to Her Mistress
“A handmaid who is heir to her mistress.”
Corporeality is called “handmaid,” which should serve spirituality, called the mistress. There are people who engage in corporeality in order to have the strength to engage in Torah and Mitzvot [commandments], and there are people who engage in Torah and Mitzvot in order to have corporeality. It follows that the mistress, who is the Torah and Mitzvot, serves them in order to bring corporeality, who is called “the maid.”
