813. The Desire to Bestow – 2
Everyone asks: When we say that His desire is to do good to His creations, and when the created beings receive His abundance, it means that His desire is satisfied, meaning that He enjoys the fact that He is giving. Thus, since we have a rule that the Creator only gives and does not receive, how then do the two interpretations coincide?
We should understand, since we should ask the same question about the person himself.
How can man, whose quality is to receive, be able to invert the vessels of reception into vessels of bestowal? After all, even when he bestows, we must say that he enjoys bestowing or he would not bestow, for without reward, we cannot comprehend that we will do something, since one who has any intellect cannot do anything unless it yields him a reward.
The answer is: “Were it not for the help of the Creator, he would not overcome it.” This is a miracle, above reason, and was given only as a gift from the Creator. Moreover, with respect to the Creator, we cannot understand that there is a reality of bestowal without reception, as this is above our minds, since our root is reception.
