811. Returning to One’s Origin

“He and I cannot dwell in the same abode.” Repentance means returning to one’s origin, annulling before Him. When a person always thinks about increasing the glory of heaven, while he himself is annulled before Godliness, this is called “repentance,” when he returns to his origin.

But when one is proud, meaning he does not want to annul before Him, it means that he does not want to be in the same abode with the Creator, since he wants specifically his own authority. This is called “two authorities,” the authority of the Creator and his own authority. This is why “Anyone who is proud, it is as though he commits idol-worship” because of the two authorities.

It follows that when the Creator says, “He and I cannot dwell in the same abode,” it is because the Creator says to the person that it is impossible if you do not want to annul before Me.
