Rabash / The Real State

796. The Real State

“And it came to pass on that day that he came home to do his work, and none of the people of the household were there in the house.” “And it came to pass on that day,” the day when the evil inclination governs in the world and descends in order to mislead people. When? In the day when a person comes to repent for his sins or to engage in Torah and to do the commandments of Torah. At that time, he comes down in order to mislead people.

It seems difficult to understand these words. How can it be said that precisely when a person comes to repent or when he engages in Torah, the evil inclination comes to control him and divert him from the straight path? Does the evil inclination have no control when a person does not engage in Torah and Mitzvot [commandments]?

We should say that if a person does not engage in repentance, he cannot see his true state.
