767. You Shall Make Holy Garments
“You shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty.” “Let your clothes be white all the time, and let not oil be lacking on your head” (Ecclesiastes).
The commandment of garments of priesthood was said in proximity. It is interpreted that “oil” implies Daat [knowledge] of the mind, so it will be pure and clean. This is the meaning of “pure olive oil.” “Holy garments” imply the body, which is the clothing of the soul, to be done properly for honor and for glory (Sefat Emet).
We should say that the “mind” is wise disciples who engage in Torah. They are the ones who draw the light of Torah, which shines to the body. The body is the supporters of Torah. This is the meaning of “She is a tree of life to those who possess her, and her supporters are happy.” The “soul” is called “learners of Torah.” The body is called “supporters of Torah.” Together, they are one man, since there cannot be a soul without a body, meaning a head without a body.
