Rabash / How Terrible Is This Place

750. How Terrible Is This Place

“How terrible is this place? This must be the house of God.”

When a person wants to come under the authority of Kedusha [holiness], he must take upon himself fear, for if there is no fear, there is no wisdom. That is, if the wisdom cannot bring him to fear, it is not wisdom.

But the fear should bring him to wisdom, too, since “The ignorant has no fear of sin,” for if a person truly received the quality of fear in his heart and soul, it is not inevitable that he will not be rewarded with wisdom. Rather, it must be that the fear, too, is not in the true manner. Hence, one must always examine the weight between the two, so they will cling to one another.
