612. Concerning This World and the Next World – 2

A person eats its fruits in this world, meaning the Torah, the 613 Mitzvot [commandments], which are counsels, are called “fruits,” meaning the light in it reforms him.

When a person sees that the Torah and Mitzvot have reformed him, this is regarded as seeing the fruits of his work in Torah and Mitzvot. What is the capital? It is the next world, meaning the next state, which should come when the 613 Mitzvot are as deposits. At that time, the Torah is discerned as the names of the Creator. The next state is discerned as “the next world.”

It follows that “Those things whose fruits a person eats in this world,” meaning that they are as 613 counsels. This is called “the light of the Torah that reforms him,” and the capital is mainly for this.
