585. The Kingship and the Governance to The One Who Lives Forever
Man consists of two forces: a good inclination and an evil inclination, and each wants to rule over the other. The governance was given to man so he could control the evil within him, but in fact, the bad controls the good. At that time, the evil is told that the kingship and the governance belong to the One Who Lives Forever.
In other words, in order to be able to adhere to the One Who Lives Forever, meaning that the power and the governance that were given, were given only so he would control the evil in him, by this man can adhere to the One Who Lives Forever.
Then, if his evil controls his good, the person wants to control other people, too, for the reason that Baal HaSulam said, that a pleasure that one receives inside his own body, he should scrutinize whether it is for the sake of the good inclination or for the sake of the evil inclination. But if a person delights his friend, it is all for the sake of the good inclination. That is, that which a person delights outside his own body already belongs to the good inclination.
For this reason, if the good inclination governs in a person, he enjoys bestowing to other people. If the bad controls the good within him, that person wants to control other people, too, since with regard to that person, other people are regarded as the good inclination. Hence, as he governs the good in him, he wants to govern over others, since they are regarded as the good inclination.
