556. The Torah, from the Words “Shot Through”
“Everything is in the hands of heaven but the fear of heaven,” for man can add only fear.
The soul of Israel is regarded as VAK, and the soul of Egypt is regarded as GAR de Haya. At that time, there was a mixture of VAK within GAR. This is the meaning of “extracting a nation from within a nation.” There are roots in it: 1) potential root, 2) actual root. The potential root is in Ein Sof [infinity/no end], and the actual root is different for each one.
By this we will understand what is written, that the root of Atzilut begins only at Nekudot de SAG due to their descent to NHY de AK where they mixed with the Behina Dalet. But in the three prior Partzufim [pl. of Partzuf], there is still no root. We should understand this, since it is explained in several places that all the worlds are rooted in Ein Sof, so why does he say that there is no root to Atzilut in the first three Partzufim?
The thing is that we should always distinguish between potential and actual in the world. In Ein Sof, all the worlds were rooted in the discernment of the root. But here we are speaking of the actual, meaning that the root begins in practice specifically from the beginning of the association of the quality of mercy with judgment, which was done specifically in Nekudot de SAG.
Prior to the Nekudot, only the quality of judgment is used, since what we say, that the world of Ein Sof is the root of the worlds, this is only in potential, like a blueprint. There is one who makes a plan for a building and builds the building according to the plan. Then, on one hand, it can be said that with the very plan, the whole building has been completed. On the other hand, the plan is not even the beginning of the building since the building is an actual thing so we need a root for the actuality, and this began only in Nekudot de SAG, where the association of the quality of mercy with the quality of judgment was rooted in practice.
