Rabash / A Cup of Kiddush

535. A Cup of Kiddush

It is written in The Zohar, Pinhas (Item 49): The fifth correction is the cup of “And the heaven and the earth were concluded,” meaning a cup of Kiddush [lit., “sanctification,” a blessing recited over wine to sanctify the Sabbath].

In Gematria, a “cup” is “God” [in Hebrew] , 86. “Concluded” amounts to AB [in Gematria], and the bride, who is Malchut, includes them, meaning the name “God,” and the name AB.

This cup, which is Malchut, is full of her wine, meaning abundance, illumination of Hochma of the Torah, which is ZA, called “Torah.” This should testify to the work of creation, which is Bina, since abundance of illumination of Hochma is called Edut [testimony], from the word Eden [Eden], and Bina is the source that gives it. This is the meaning of the need to testify to the work of creation.

By this he can explain that in “concluded,” he can testify to the work of creation. But since testimony is only by eyesight, how can one testify by eyesight to the work of creation? After all, one can know what happened just by hearing.

Indeed, testifying to the work of creation means testifying that the intention of creation is to do good to His creations. How does one know? If he is rewarded with the quality of Shabbat [Sabbath], he testifies by eyesight, since he sees that this is the intention of creation because this is what he tasted.
