452. Just as I Am Dancing before You

“Just as I am dancing before You but I cannot touch You, so will all my enemies not be able to harm me.” “May … we fill the blemish of the moon so there is no diminution in it … as it was prior to its diminution,” etc. We should understand why one should care that there is a flaw in the moon and what he loses by this.
The moon implies Malchut. Malchut means the kingdom of heaven, which means that we must aim all the actions to be in order to bestow upon the Creator and not in order to receive for oneself. There are two discernments in the Sitra Achra [other side]: 1) the grip of the Klipot [shells/peels], 2) the suckling of the Klipot.
When a person does not feel taste in the work and does everything in a compulsory manner, the Klipa [sing. of Klipot] shows a person the flaw in spirituality, namely that spirituality is tasteless. By this, it gains a grip and does not let a person engage in Torah and Mitzvot [commandments] because spirituality is lowered. This is called “Shechina [Divinity] in the dust.”
When a person grows stronger in Torah and Mitzvot and is rewarded with obtaining some flavor in the work, the Klipa comes and wants to suckle from the Kedusha [holiness]. That is, it makes a person think that he should engage in Torah and Mitzvot not for the purpose of a Mitzva [commandment] but because of the personal pleasure he is feeling now. Thus, all the taste and pleasure move to the Sitra Achra and not to the Kedusha [holiness]. This is called “the suckling into the Klipot.”
For this reason, in order not to avoid the suckling into the Klipot, the moon was diminished. In other words, the taste and the pleasure in Kedusha were reduced and therefore it has nothing to suck. However, because of this there is room for a dance, since “dancing” means that a person goes up and down intermittently, and at times falls forward, and at times backward.
Hence, during the concealment of the light, when a person should overcome above reason, there is the matter of dancing, which means ascents and descents in spirituality. It was said about this, “But I cannot touch You,” meaning that there is nothing to suck. “So will all my enemies not be able to harm me” during the filling, for then we pray for the filling of the blemish of the moon, that there will not be any diminution in it, meaning that it will be filled. The prayer is that then, too, the enemies will not be able to harm it, meaning to suck from it.
The prayer is over this, so that just as during the diminution there is no room for suckling, during the filling of the moon, the enemies will not have a place to suck from it.
Hence, we pray for the filling of the blemish of the moon, meaning that the light and pleasure will be revealed, and then we pray that there will be no diminution in it, meaning that the Sitra Achra will not be able to come and suck from it, since through the suckling, the diminution happens. This is why we say, “that there is no diminution in it.”
