Tens Course - Lesson #26
Topic: The Importance of Dissemination of the Wisdom of Kabbalah
Selected excerpts from the sources
1. Rabbi Avraham Azulai, Introduction to the book "Ohr ha-Chama" ("Light of the Sun").
“That which was decreed Above—that the wisdom of truth should not be engaged in openly—was only for a limited time, until the completion of the year 5250 [1490 CE]. From that point onward, it is called the ‘last generation,’ and the decree was annulled, and permission was granted to engage in the Book of Zohar.
And from the year 5300 of Creation [1540 CE], it is a mitzvah [commandement] of the highest order that they engage in it publicly, both great and small, as is brought in "Raaya Mehemna". And since through this merit the King Messiah is destined to come—and through no other—it is not fitting to be negligent.”
2. Baal HaSulam, "The Shofar of the Messiah"
״The disclosure of the wisdom of the hidden in great masses; it is a necessary precondition that must be met prior to the complete redemption.״
3. Rabash, Article No. 6 (1984) "Love of Friends - 2"
"...The purpose of creation is not necessarily for a select group. Rather, the purpose of creation belongs to all creations without exception. It is not necessarily the strong and skillful, or the brave people who can overcome. Rather, it belongs to all the creatures."
4. The Prophecy of Baal HaSulam
״After all these days, I listened attentively to all the promises and destinies I have been chosen for by the Lord, yet I found in them neither satisfaction nor the words by which to speak to the dwellers of this world and lead them to God’s will, as He had told me. I could not stride among the people, who are vain and slandering the Lord and His creation, while I was satiated and praising, and walking merrily as though mocking those wretched ones.
Matters have touched me to the bottom of my heart, and I resolved that come what may, even if I descend from my sublime degree, I must make a heartfelt prayer to the Lord to grant me attainment and knowledge of the prophecy and wisdom, and the words by which to help the forlorn people of the world, to raise them to the same degree of wisdom and pleasantness as mine.״
5. Baal HaSulam, "The Teaching of the Kabbalah and Its Essence"
"I am glad that I have been born in such a generation when it is permitted to disclose the wisdom of truth. And should you ask how I know that it is permitted, I will reply that it is because I have been given permission to disclose. That is, until now, the ways by which it is possible to publicly engage and to fully explain each word have not been revealed to any sage. [...] and this is what the Creator has given me to the fullest extent. We deem it as dependent not on the greatness of the sage, but on the state of the generation."
6. Baal HaSulam, "Introduction to the Book Panim Meirot uMasbirot", No. 22
"One does not live for oneself, but for the whole chain. Thus, each and every part of the chain does not receive the light of life into itself, but only distributes the light of life to the whole chain."
7. Baal HaSulam, "The Writings of the Last Generation"
"Life’s direction is to attain adhesion with Him, strictly to benefit the Creator, or to reward the public with achieving adhesion with Him."
8. RABASH, Article 11 (1987), "Purim, and the Commandment: Until He Does Not Know"
"By causing the entire world to receive the delight and pleasure that exist in the purpose of creation. It follows that he has become a partner of the Creator in that through him will come the assistance by which everyone will achieve the purpose of creation. Thus, he has become a partner of the Creator."
