True Advancement Combines Inspiration with Coarseness

Spiritual work has two complementary sides: inspiring the friends with the Creator’s greatness and connecting with them by accepting their desires and deficiencies as one’s own. Inspiration alone produces an ascent without personal participation. By drawing closer to the friends, a person discovers both their deficiencies and his own coarseness, joining ascent and descent, Hitlabshut and Aviut, into genuine advancement.
