From Reward and Punishment to True Lishma

Spiritual development begins with habit, then advances through Lo Lishma, where a person expects reward or fears punishment from the Creator. True Lishma begins when self-benefit no longer governs the action: through self-annulment, one takes on the Creator’s qualities rather than calculating what the self will gain.
