24 Hours in the Life of a Kabbalist: Rav Michael Laitman

Please rate this video:

Message

We were in a major accident.

I was the driver.

It shattered my lungs and liver completely.

They brought me and my sister in

and we saw him lying there.

There was still dried blood on his body.

My sister burst into hysterical crying,

and her tears were falling

on dad's body lying there.

That's when I understood the severity.

I was together with Rav in the same car.

I woke up in the hospital

severely injured.

The friends didn't recognize my face.

They told me,

"Rav is also in the hospital.

Still unconscious.

We don't know what to do.

What's going to happen to us from now on?

What will be next?"

Around the accident I understood the power

of the group that Dad was building.

I suddenly realized that he is not just my dad.

The lungs were filled with blood and I couldn't breathe.

Constant choking,

like you're underwater.

And then I heard doctors talking,

"Well, we'll do this for him for now

and then that, and then we'll see.

If he lives, he lives."

I'm sitting at the hospital entrance

with a choked throat and tears in my eyes.

This moment will never get out of my head.

And constantly the thought and feeling pass through me,

that after searching all my life

for the person who would teach me

the most important thing in life,

he's now going to leave.

It can't be.

No way.

I went through clinical death.

There were visions as if you see from afar,

as if you see from the outside all sorts of things.

This is what people who go through clinical death

feel a bit at the end of the road,

that is waiting for them there.

It's all a lie.

It's not similar to the spiritual state.

We want to make a film about you.

We want to open up a bit

this curtain that is separating us

from the science of Kabbalah,

to refute myths about it.

You've been studying Kabbalah for almost 50 years.

You've learned from great sages,

you also have thousands of students.

We think that by presenting a film with you,

we would be able to talk about the spiritual world,

we would be able to give an answer

to people who ask themselves,

"Why was I given this life?"

I understand, but this doesn't suit me.

I was many years beside the great Kabbalist, the Rabash,

and it wouldn't have suited him at all

to engage in himself in any way.

You couldn't see that he was great.

And I, according to my character,

I have nothing in which to make myself great.

I understand that's not what you want for the film,

but that's how it is.

Before I get up in the morning and wake up,

this film of the lesson,

what I'll convey to you,

is already running inside me.

Day after day I get up and discover

how hard it is for me to wake up

properly for the lesson,

that I want to reach it with all my strength,

with mind and heart,

and I can't.

Every morning anew,

otherwise it won't be a new day.

And I need to wake up again,

and again awaken myself and connect to the group.

And the connection should be a new connection,

not as it was yesterday.

More difficult and more courageous.

And I read and I look at all kinds of excerpts,

but I feel myself that I'm dead.

And this is day after day.

Once in a while we hear from Rav,

that he goes through periods of lack of strength.

But regardless I can say with confidence,

that none of us has seen

Rav in such a state.

After all, we know him differently.

I don't predict the future,

and I don't do any supernatural things.

I teach my students

how slowly, in small steps,

to reach the truth and acquire it.

Our wisdom of Kabbalah

is a scientific, didactic form,

it's a method of how a person changes himself,

and through this comes to know the Upper Force.

And as the Kabbalists write

this can take ten or twenty years.

Only special people who have a "point in the heart,"

understand there's no other way,

and others will go somewhere, to mysticism.

It's important to me that ordinary people,

from the Land of Israel especially,

will hear what I say

and understand what lies ahead of them in some form.

Not from me, through someone,

but the main thing is that external changes will happen

to all to inhabitants of the world.

We are reading

from the "Introduction to the Book of Zohar," item 14.

The science that we now want to reveal,

Is how much the connection or distance between us

affects all of nature.

The still, vegetative, animate,

and even on the relationships between people.

We'll will see this with our own eyes,

that we are moving closer between us

and suddenly all the viruses disappear,

the hurricanes, the cold and heat waves,

all the problems, everything.

We move a little closer between us,

and suddenly all kinds of bad forces calm down

in all kinds of places and countries.

This is really a very interesting science,

how much the phenomena within us,

when we quiet them,

we move closer upon the hatred

so there will be love.

We don't destroy the hatred,

the natural forces of minus and plus,

the opposition between them remains,

only we know how to work

with both of them together

to give the Creator room to govern.

And this is called, "He who makes peace in His heavens

will make peace upon us,"

the complementation between minus and plus.

How do you receive the information

that you give us in the lesson?

Can you explain

how do you feel about it?

It's like a scientist who feels

phenomena from the world,

or who looks at the sky

if he engages in astronomy,

or into planet Earth

if he engages in geology.

But this is his profession,

so he sees before everyone and more than everyone.

It is the same with me, my laboratory is humanity.

When I look at what happens in humanity,

and after that what transpires,

then I understand from this that it is

at a lower degree than it should already be.

We need to hurry with our correction.

The will to bestow,

Bina mingles with Malchut.

It enters the will to receive,

and then by this the will to receive

begins to be even more cruel.

This is all the evil in this world,

that all those scoundrels who attack us

and through supposedly good, beautiful deeds,

pull from us everything possible.

They manage us, confuse us,

all the governments, all those managers.

It turns out we are reaching a state

that those same things that should be

for the correction,

they work for the corruption,

for the corrupted Bina, and this is called

"He has swallowed up riches and He will vomit it up"

Rav, can we now,

in this lesson, reach the end of correction?

At every moment, not just in this lesson.

How should we approach the public?

Why is the corporeal people of Israel

punished for not keeping the mutual guarantee?

What is the work in mind and heart?

Do you see that we're progressing

and doing it truly correctly?

What is the benefit is from the destruction of the Temple?

How not to deviate from this path?

So how can we connect

these separate souls into one soul?

What should we be careful of

So that we don't cause harm to the public?

We lack fire.

Michael Laitman was born in 1946 in Vitebsk

to a family of Holocaust survivors.

His parents were doctors.

In his childhood he was interested in music and photography.

In 1964 he was accepted to the

Electro-Technical Institute in Leningrad,

and he has a degree in computers.

He studied biological and medical cybernetics.

During his studies he was a sound technician

in the musical group "Nomads."

After finishing his studies at the institute,

he worked in the "Kronstadt" laboratory

of the Academy of Military Medicine

on space medicine.

In 1974,

after prolonged opposition

from the Soviet authorities,

he immigrated to Israel.

He worked in the IDF.

He had a personal business.

His family expanded in Israel,

and he is a father of three children.

We don't know when Michael Laitman

began searching for his spiritual teacher,

but we know he found him

in 1979.

This is Rav Baruch Shalom HaLevi Ashlag,

son of the great Kabbalist,

Rav Yehuda Ashlag, "Baal HaSulam."

Michael was his faithful student

and continues the path of Rav Baruch.

In 1997 he founded the

"Bnei Baruch - Kabbalah for the People" association,

named after his teacher.

He has a PhD.

There are several million people on the planet

who call him "their teacher."

Dad.

Yes.

So many fears and worries,

especially when I think about him.

What is going to happen?

It will be fine.

He'll grow up and take his place.

There's a lot of uncertainty.

Yes.

Where is the world going?

The world is certainly going in a bad direction.

We can see everything

according to the types of ego that are revealed,

why specifically our corrupted form,

in the relationship between us,

is revealed in this or that form

of diseases and revolutions and wars, and so on.

According to what's being revealed now,

I don't even want to talk about it much,

but we are facing several

blows of plagues.

Rav, you've predicted the future

many times and quite accurately.

Can you explain how this happens?

How does this mechanism work?

Maybe through this chart as an example?

And this chart, where does it appear?

This chart?

Yes.

I feel it before me.

It appears in all of humanity, in the world,

natural disasters, cold and heat, plagues, wars.

This is what I feel.

Can you say

from where do you know this?

Well, how can I explain it,

what do I see?

I see a process that is happening all over the world

and from that I speak.

The Upper Force is approaching us

according to its own time,

and we are not compatible with it.

And according to the gap between us and the Upper Force,

which is entirely a force of bestowal,

and we are all a force of reception,

so its nearing to us

should bring us all kinds of disasters.

Time passes and humanity does nothing

to adapt itself to the flow of time.

Gilad, you served some time in the Navy?

Yes, I served as an electronics officer

on a missile ship.

Did you ever fight?

Yes, I participated in the first Lebanon war,

then it was called "Operation Peace for the Galilee,"

I remember there was some artillery battery

opposite the shores of Beirut that fired at us,

we fired at them,

and it was like a wild west duel, who will hit first.

And you see the shells hitting the water

300 meters from you, and then 200 meters from you,

and 100 meters from you, and 50 meters from you,

and it's clear to you that the next shell will fall on the ship.

And the thought passes through me,

"You're too young, what have you accomplished?

You haven’t done anything, you...

We must win here."

This was one of the formative events

that brought me to think of what am I living for?

And to search for the answer to this question.

Hello, we're in a writers’ meeting

with Rav Dr. Michael Laitman.

Hello Rav.

Hello.

We're about a week before the Ninth of Av.

What is this strong and special force

that is operating on us in these days?

A negative force, a force of separation, distancing, hatred.

What is our connection, today's Jews,

to the Jews back then, 2,000 years ago?

We are the same people, the same character,

the separation between us is always present.

By this we raise hatred

in all the nations surrounding us,

and give them the power to break us.

What can we do now

to prevent the approaching decrees?

We need to make a correction

that is placed upon us and depends only on us.

And this is why all humanity depends on us,

and subconsciously it feels this dependence,

and we don't want to recognize this dependence.

They come upon us and pressure us

and say, "Enough, this is what we want.

Not territories and not peace and not all kinds of things,

and not success in all kinds of situations.

We want nothing from you,

except one thing, the method for correcting the world.

Because the world is deteriorating to a state of complete chaos."

But what in the nature of the Jews

causes them to return again and again to the same ruin?

What don't we learn from the past?

This is called "a stiff-necked people."

What would you do if you had such a stubborn son

who doesn't want to do this?

This is the Creator's problem.

Okay, and how does He solve His problems?

He puts more and more pressure, every year more and more,

until we recognize our obligation.

How is it that the nations of the world understand

this message better than us?

They don't have the same ego as we do,

they're not connected to the Creator directly,

they're not stiff-necked like us.

Rav wrote the first books

and articles himself.

But today, with the amount of media coming out

from the walls of this building,

it's impossible.

In these writers’ meetings

Rav exposes the causes,

the spiritual roots

of everything that occurs in Israel and the world.

And we type on the keyboard

and transmit his messages to the world.

So who's to blame?

I am the reason this is happening to them,

and I need to be the reason that they

truly connect and speak

to be "as one man with one heart."

We will then build a connection between us

specifically above all the hatred,

a connection of love.

And this will be the true, third "Temple,"

as the Creator says,

"My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples."

Can I ask another question?

You're a Kabbalist,

you are in the spiritual worlds.

Why do you feel the need to deal

with things of our world,

with all these changing events?

I remember the Rabash,

when there was the Lebanon war,

and some Hasid came

and sees Rav running to the radio,

to turn on the radio.

So he asked, "What happened?"

So I tell him,

"It's news, he wants to hear the news,

what's happening there in Lebanon."

So the Rabash comes back, and then he says to him,

"What is the news? What is it?

Does this suit us, faithful Jews,

what news?"

Rabash says, "Do you have children there?"

It was really very moving.

Rav Baruch Ashlag, the Rabash,

was born in the Jewish district of Warsaw

in 1907.

He was the first child in his family

of the prominent Kabbalist, Yehuda HaLevi Ashlag.

He remained forever his good student

and devoted successor.

In 1921 the Rabash moved

with his parents to the land of Israel,

and entered the Jerusalem "Torat Emet" yeshiva.

There he studied Torah and Kabbalah for 16 hours a day.

He got married in 1925.

Six children were born from his marriage.

All the years he continued studying Kabbalah

under his father's guidance,

and simultaneously worked as a construction worker,

later as a reinforcement worker,

including on the Jerusalem-Hebron road,

and also as a shoemaker.

In addition, he served as an income tax inspector.

The Rabash dedicated his life

to explaining and spreading methods for studying Kabbalah,

in a way accessible for the understanding and study

by the modern generation.

The Rabash passed away in 1991,

and was buried on Har HaMenuchot

next to his father in Jerusalem.

It's hard without the Rabash.

It's a wall.

It's life without questions.

We know that at this hour usually

you work alone behind a closed door.

We don't know what you do there.

I remember once I mustered the courage

and asked you about this.

You told me, "This is the work of a Kabbalist."

And now we want to ask,

who is a Kabbalist?

A Kabbalist is a person connected with the Creator

and dedicating all his life

to how to advance toward this.

Is it possible to express in words

what a Kabbalist feels?

I see the Upper Force

that operates within humanity,

and therefore I have my own view, my own opinion from this.

Rav almost never talks

about his spiritual achievements.

He apparently wants

us to rise to these stages by ourselves.

In addition, we learn that it's hard to convey in our words

impressions from the Upper World,

a rich, diverse world.

But there's a short and very special segment in our archive.

When did you feel the light for the first time?

This I can say,

because many of my students

have already gone through this, and it's possible.

A person feels the light for the first time

when he begins studying Kabbalah,

and suddenly, truly suddenly,

some revelation comes to him

that he feels he's in a sea,

or in a cloud, I don't know, in something dense like that,

of warmth and love that shines on him from all sides.

And it’s as if this world doesn't exist.

This world does exist and everything,

but besides that he feels

how the air is filled with a good demeanor, beautiful, breathing.

And this feeling is usually the first meeting

of a person with the light.

How can we know

if a Kabbalist is real?

Is there proof of this?

We can't judge Kabbalists

by their writings, by their attitude,

by their behavior, by nothing.

Nothing in this is understood,

and each and every one can hide himself

so no one will see and know.

Wait, how does this reconcile with the fact

that there's a Kabbalist like you,

who has millions of students all over the world?

If he feels in his connection with the Creator

that he must perform some work,

that he's in a period, let's say like ours,

that he must perform work with humanity

and all kinds of other such works

spiritual or corporeal,

then he performs it.

I'm an idiot.

Idiot, idiot, idiot.

What a wise man you are.

During the war with Iraq, with Saddam Hussein,

suddenly I read in the newspaper

that Michael Laitman wrote a book about Kabbalah.

The next day I went to the store,

I bought this book.

At the end of the book it was written that anyone who

read the entire book has an invitation and a phone number.

I called,

and he asks me, "Did you read to the end?"

I said, "Yes."

"Really?" he said,

"And did you understand everything you read?"

I said, "No, no, no,

I have many questions."

He said, "Come, come let's talk."

I came to him, and I've been with him for 33 years.

We started studying

in Michael Laitman's apartment,

and with time more and more people came,

until there was no more room in his living room.

We found some small hut on Reines Street,

it was a huge place for us,

and there were morning lessons there, holidays.

It was an unforgettable time.

And then the group grew again.

We felt crowded in our old and pleasant building,

so we rented an industrial building,

renovated it,

created our own television,

and thousands of people all over the world

listen with bated breath to the morning lessons.

And again we felt crowded.

Three thousand people at once

each decided to put in as much as he could,

and we bought the building.

We built these walls with our own hands.

There's a study hall here, study rooms,

studios, a small event hall, a large one.

That is,

everything is here to be a supportive environment

for every person who wants spiritual development.

And the well of life, the initiating, leading force,

is Rav Laitman, it’s the Kabbalist.

I've traveled enough to the US

and South America and Russia and Europe,

and all kinds of places,

and gave lectures, and everything.

I see myself as working

with whoever wants to listen.

But with publicity, that's not me.

I've been abroad with Rav

dozens of times,

both at conferences and on private trips.

And what characterizes him is

that he really settles for little.

He never agreed to fly business class.

At the airport, when the suitcases arrive,

he's the first to jump to bring everyone their suitcase.

He certainly doesn't let anyone carry his suitcase.

If I were alone, without students,

no one would have heard of me.

This is how every Kabbalist would do, I'm sure.

What do I get from this?

I don't receive importance from this,

I don't need from them neither money,

nor honor nor anything.

Do you work alone or does someone help you?

We're not talking of course about

technical work but spiritual work.

I work alone toward the Creator.

There are other people but not beside me and outside me,

according to methods close to Baal HaSulam,

but different.

In the history of Kabbalah there are thousands of names

that are known to us and thousands of names unknown.

But only few of them are connected to central changes

in the system of understanding the Upper World.

One of them is Yehuda Leib HaLevi Ashlag,

known to us as "Baal HaSulam."

He was born in 1884 in Lukow,

one hundred kilometers from Warsaw,

the capital of the Kingdom of Poland.

From a young age he amazed his instructors

with his brilliant knowledge

of all the foundational books of Judaism.

He  also became a student of

the prominent Kabbalists of his time,

the Admors of Kalish and the Admor of Porsov.

Furthermore, he was interested in the works

of renowned Western philosophers.

Later on he would compare their views

to the view of the science of Kabbalah in his articles.

Since he foresaw the approaching Holocaust,

Baal HaSulam and his family moved to Israel.

This was in the autumn of 1921, during Chol HaMoed Sukkot.

In Jerusalem Baal HaSulam was disappointed.

The local Jews welcomed him

with open hostility.

His idea to spread Kabbalah to the masses

was not understood by them.

Moreover, they rejected the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Thus, despite persecutions,

Baal HaSulam gathered a group of faithful students

in the next thirty years,

and created a technique that humanity had not known.

A scientific translation of an ancient wisdom

adapted to modern generations.

He wrote commentaries

to all the classical Kabbalah books,

including "The Tree of Life" by the ARI

and “The book of Zohar" by Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.

They were translated into many languages.

Baal HaSulam passed away in 1954,

and left his group and teaching methods

in the hands of the best of his students and his firstborn son,

Baruch Shalom Ashlag, known as "the Rabash."

I drove into Bnei Brak. It was rainy and dark.

An ultraorthodox religious man stood at a street corner,

of Rabbi Akiva and Chazon Ish.

And I open the window a bit like this,

and ask him, "Where do they study Kabbalah here?"

You understand, this is... ask in Bnei Brak like that.

And he says, "You turn right

and drive to the end, the last house on the left,

opposite the orchard, there they study Kabbalah."

When I told this to the Rabash,

he said, "That was an angel."

When I arrived at the Rabash I saw a table

and at the table sat five old men.

After a day or two that I was there,

this environment became for me

from five old men to the most important in the entire world.

They were really great.

Your teacher, the Rabash,

did he know your future?

Otherwise he wouldn't have engaged with me all the time.

After all, it was 12 years,

day by day, many hours a day.

Did he immediately see the spark in you?

He saw it.

He saw it.

Rav Dr. Michael Laitman studied with

Rav Baruch Shalom HaLevi Ashlag, the Rabash.

The Rabash was the student and son of

Rav Yehuda Leib HaLevi Ashlag,

known by his nickname "Baal HaSulam."

Baal HaSulam was the student of

Rav Yehoshua Rabinowitz of Porsov.

In this way, like fresh water,

the chain of Kabbalists flowed from generation to generation,

until it reached the founder of Hasidism

the Baal Shem Tov.

How does it feel to bestow?

You have seven billion people in the world.

Put together all their pleasures,

let's say this is a spark

compared to the light you attain

in the highest spiritual degree.

When the sea raises its waves in anger

These are the nations of the world

who want to wash Israel away,

to remove them from the world.

And Israel do not break,

but rather the waves break,

and cannot wash over the world.

They promptly break

and turn back quiet

I can't imagine living abroad.

There's no other place except here.

And cannot rule

If we bring warmth, reciprocity between us,

above all the differences,

we'll create a new reality.

and wash the world over

"And all that the Creator does to Israel

when He delivers them bit by bit and not all at once.

It is like a person who is in the dark

and has always been in the dark

When you want to give him light,

you first need to open a small light for him,

like the eye of a needle,

and then a little bigger.

And likewise more each time,

until all the light properly shines for him."

We don't yearn

to reveal the spiritual world.

The truth is there's nothing to reveal.

There's nothing to reveal, because it doesn't exist.

We need to build it,

from our relations,

from our corrected qualities.

00:17

We were in a major accident.

00:20

I was the driver.

00:23

It shattered my lungs and liver completely.

00:26

They brought me and my sister in. and

00:29

we saw him lying there. blood still clotted

00:34

on his body.

00:36

My sister burst into hysterical tears and her

00:40

tears fell on dad's body lying there.

00:45

That's when I understood how serious it was.

00:48

I was together with Rav in the same

00:50

car.

00:51

I woke up in the hospital. severely injured.

00:54

The friends didn't recognize my face.

00:58

They told me. Rav is also in the

01:00

hospital. still unconscious.

01:03

We don't know what to do.

01:06

What's going to happen to us from now

01:08

on?

01:09

What will be next?

01:10

Around the accident. I realized the power of

01:13

the group my father was building.

01:16

Suddenly. I realized he wasn't just my father.

01:21

The lungs were filled with blood and I

01:24

couldn't breathe. constantly choking like you're underwater.

01:29

And then I heard the doctors talking.

01:32

Well. we'll do this for him now. and

01:34

then that. and then we'll see.

01:36

If he lives. he lives.

01:39

I'm sitting at the hospital entrance with a

01:42

choked throat and tears in my eyes.

01:46

This moment will never get out of my

01:48

head.

01:50

And constantly. the thought and feeling passed through

01:53

me that after searching my whole life for

01:57

the person who'll teach me the most important

01:59

thing in life. and now he's gonna leave?

02:03

That can't be.

02:04

No way.

02:07

I went through a clinical death.

02:11

There were visions as if you see from

02:13

afar. as if you see things from the

02:15

outside. all sorts of things.

02:17

This is what people who go through clinical

02:19

death feel a bit at the end of

02:21

the road.

02:22

That is what's waiting for them there.

02:25

It's all a lie.

02:26

It's not similar to the spiritual state.

02:29

We want to make a film about you.

02:32

We want to open up a bit this

02:33

curtain that is separating us from the science

02:36

of Kabbalah to refute myths about it.

02:39

You've been studying Kabbalah for almost 50 years.

02:42

You've learned from great sages.

02:44

You also have thousands of students.

02:46

We think that by presenting a film with

02:49

you. we'll be able to talk about the

02:51

spiritual world.

02:51

We'll be able to give an answer to

02:54

people who ask themselves. why was I given

02:56

this life?

02:57

I understand. but this doesn't suit me.

03:04

I was many years beside the great Kabbalist.

03:08

the Rabbash. and it wouldn't have suited him

03:12

at all to engage in himself in any

03:14

way.

03:15

You could see that he was great. and

03:18

I. according to my character. I have nothing

03:21

in which to make myself great.

03:25

I understand that's not what you want for

03:27

the film. but that's how it is.

04:04

Before I get up in the morning and

04:07

wake up. this film of the lesson. what

04:10

I'll convey to you. is already running inside

04:14

me.

04:30

Day after day. I get up and discover

04:33

how hard it is for me to wake

04:36

up properly for the lesson. that I want

04:39

to reach it with all my strength. my

04:42

mind and heart. and I can't.

04:54

Every morning. anew. otherwise it won't be a

04:58

new day.

04:59

And I need to wake up again and

05:02

again. awaken myself and connect to the group.

05:07

And the connection should be a new connection.

05:10

not as it was yesterday.

05:12

More difficult and more courageous.

05:17

And I read and I look up all

05:19

kinds of excerpts. but I feel myself that

05:24

I'm dead.

05:25

Day after day.

05:28

Once in a while. we hear from Rav

05:30

that he goes through periods of lack of

05:33

strength.

05:33

But regardless. I can say with confidence that

05:36

none of us has seen Rav in such

05:39

a state.

05:40

After all. we know him differently.

05:48

I don't predict the future and I don't

05:50

do any supernatural things.

05:53

I teach my students how slowly and in

05:56

small steps to reach the truth and acquire

05:59

it.

06:03

Our wisdom of Kabbalah is a scientific. didactic

06:07

form.

06:08

It's a method of how a person changes

06:10

himself and through this comes to know the

06:14

upper force.

06:16

And as the Kabbalists write. this can take

06:19

10 or 20 years.

06:22

Only special people who have a point in

06:24

the heart understand there's no other way.

06:27

Then others will go somewhere else to mysticism.

06:39

It's important to me that ordinary people from

06:43

the land of Israel. especially. will hear what

06:46

I say and understand what lies ahead of

06:49

them in some form.

06:51

Not from me. through someone. but the main

06:54

thing is that these external changes will happen

06:57

to all inhabitants of the world.

08:00

We're reading from the introduction to the book

08:03

of Zohar. item 14.

08:06

Thus. you necessarily find that on the whole.

08:09

there are three states to the soul.

08:11

The science that we now want to reveal

08:15

is how much the connection or distance between

08:19

us affects all of nature. the still. vegetative.

08:26

animate. and even on the relationships between people.

08:32

We will see this with our own eyes

08:34

that we are moving closer between us and

08:37

suddenly all the viruses disappear.

08:41

The hurricanes. the cold and heat waves. all

08:45

the problems. everything.

08:47

We move a little closer between us and

08:50

suddenly all kinds of bad forces calm down

08:54

in all kinds of places and countries.

08:58

This is really a very interesting science. how

09:02

much the phenomena within us. when we quiet

09:07

them. we move closer upon the hatred. so

09:11

there will be love.

09:13

We don't destroy the hatred. the natural forces

09:17

of minus and plus. the opposition between them

09:20

remains.

09:21

Only we know how to work with both

09:23

of them together to give the Creator room

09:26

to govern.

09:27

And this is called. He who makes peace

09:31

in his heavens will make peace upon us.

09:35

The complementation between minus and plus.

09:51

How do you receive the information that you

09:54

give in a lesson?

09:55

Can you explain how you feel about it?

09:58

It's like a scientist who feels the phenomena

10:01

from the world. or who looks at the

10:04

sky if he engages in astronomy. or into

10:08

planet Earth if he engages in geology.

10:10

But this is his profession. so he sees

10:13

before everyone and more than everyone.

10:17

It's the same with me.

10:18

My laboratory is humanity.

10:21

When I look at what happens in humanity

10:23

and after what transpires. then I understand from

10:28

this that it is at a lower degree

10:31

than it should be already.

10:33

We need to hurry with our correction.

10:37

During the time of that state. no correction

10:40

will come to the bodies. only to the

10:43

souls.

10:44

Introduction to the Book of Zohar.

10:48

The will to bestow. Binah mingles with Malkuth.

10:52

It enters the will to receive. and then

10:54

by this. the will to receive begins to

10:58

be even more cruel.

11:01

Evil in the world. that all those scoundrels

11:05

who attack us. and through supposedly good. beautiful

11:10

deeds. pull from us everything possible.

11:15

They manage us. confuse us. all the governments.

11:20

all those managers.

11:24

Phase two and phase four were mingled together

11:27

and caused the second restriction.

11:30

Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah.

11:35

It turns out we are reaching a state

11:37

that those same things that should be for

11:41

the correction. they work for the corruption. for

11:46

the corrupted Binah.

11:48

And this is called. he has swallowed up

11:51

riches and he will vomit it up.

11:53

Questions.

11:55

Rav. can we now. in this lesson. reach

11:57

the end of correction?

11:58

At every moment. not just this lesson.

12:01

How should we approach the public?

12:06

Why is the corporal people of Israel punished

12:09

for not keeping the mutual guarantee?

12:11

What is the work in the mind and

12:13

heart?

12:14

Do you see that we're progressing and doing

12:17

it correctly?

12:17

What is the benefit from the destruction of

12:22

the temple?

12:23

How not to deviate from this path?

12:27

How can we connect these separate souls into

12:30

one soul?

12:31

What should we be careful of so we

12:33

don't cause harm to the public?

12:35

We lack fire.

12:53

To rise from below.

14:21

Michael Laitman was born in 1946 in Vitebsk

14:26

to a family of Holocaust survivors.

14:28

His parents were doctors.

14:30

In his childhood. he was interested in music

14:32

and photography.

14:34

In 1964. he was accepted to the Electrotechnical

14:37

Institute in Leningrad and has a degree in

14:40

computer science.

14:42

He studied biology and medical cybernetics.

14:45

During his studies. he was a sound technician

14:47

in the music group Nomads.

14:49

After finishing his studies in the institute. he

14:52

worked in the Kronstadt Laboratory of the Academy

14:55

of Military Medicine on space medicine.

14:59

In 1974. after prolonged opposition from the Soviet

15:03

authorities. he immigrated to Israel.

15:06

He worked in the IDF.

15:08

He has a personal business.

15:09

His family expanded in Israel. and he has

15:12

a father of three children.

15:14

We don't know when Michael Laitman began searching

15:17

for a spiritual teacher. but we know he

15:20

found him in 1979.

15:23

This is Rav Baruch Shalom HaLevi Aschlag. son

15:27

of the great Kabbalist Rav Yehuda Aschlag. Baal

15:31

HaSulam.

15:33

Michael was his faithful servant and continues the

15:36

path of Rav Baruch.

15:38

In 1997. he founded B'nei Baruch Kabbalah

15:43

for the People Association. named after his teacher.

15:46

He has a PhD.

15:48

There are several million people on the planet

15:50

who call him their teacher.

15:56

Dad?

15:58

Yes?

16:00

So many fears and concerns. especially when I

16:05

think about him.

16:08

What will be?

16:10

It'll be fine.

16:12

He'll grow up and take his place.

16:16

There's a lot of uncertainty.

16:19

Yes.

16:20

Where is the world going?

16:21

The world is certainly going in a bad

16:24

direction.

16:25

We can see everything according to the types

16:28

of egos that are revealed.

16:31

Why specifically our corrupted form in the relationship

16:36

between us is revealed in this or that

16:40

form of diseases and revolutions and wars and

16:45

so on.

16:47

According to what's being revealed now. I don't

16:50

even want to talk much about it. but

16:53

we are facing several blows of plagues.

16:59

Rav. you've predicted the future many times and

17:01

quite accurately.

17:03

Can you explain how that happens?

17:05

How does this mechanism work?

17:06

Maybe through this chart as an example.

17:09

And this chart. where does it appear?

17:12

This chart?

17:13

Yeah.

17:13

I feel it before me.

17:15

It appears in all of humanity. in the

17:17

world.

17:18

Natural disasters. cold. heat. plagues. wars.

17:23

This is what I feel.

17:25

Can you say from where you know this?

17:28

Well. how can I explain it?

17:30

What do I see?

17:33

I see a process that is happening all

17:35

over the world.

17:37

And from that. I speak.

17:40

The upper force is approaching us according to

17:44

its own time.

17:46

And we are not compatible with it.

17:50

And according to the gap between us and

17:53

the upper force. which is entirely a force

17:57

of bestowal.

17:59

And we are a force of reception.

18:03

So its nearing to us should bring us

18:07

all kinds of disasters.

18:10

Time passes and humanity does nothing to adapt

18:15

itself to the flow of time.

18:22

The world is ours. not the enemy's!

18:31

Gilad. you served some time in the Navy.

18:34

Yeah. I served as an electronics officer on

18:37

a missile ship.

18:38

Did you ever fight?

18:40

Yes. I participated in the first Lebanon war.

18:43

Then it was called Operation Peace for the

18:45

Galilee.

18:46

I remember there was some artillery battle opposite

18:49

the shores of Beirut that fired at us.

18:52

We fired at them.

18:53

And it was like a wild west duel.

18:55

Who will hit first?

18:57

And you see the shells hitting the water.

18:59

300 meters from you.

19:00

And then 200 meters from you.

19:01

And 100 meters from you.

19:03

At 50 meters from you.

19:04

And it's clear to you that the next

19:06

shell will fall on the ship.

19:09

And a thought passed through me.

19:10

You're too young.

19:11

What have you accomplished?

19:12

You haven't done anything.

19:14

You must win here.

19:15

This was one of the formative events that

19:18

brought me to think. what am I living

19:20

for?

19:20

And to search out the answer to the

19:22

question.

19:31

Hello. we're in a writer's meeting with Rav

19:33

Dr. Michael Laitman.

19:34

Hello. Rav.

19:35

Hello. everyone.

19:36

We're about a week before the 9th of Av.

19:39

19:39

What is this strong and special force operating

19:42

on us these days?

19:44

A negative force.

19:45

A force of separation. distancing. hatred.

19:49

What is our connection?

19:50

Today's Jews to the Jews back then.

19:52

2000 years ago?

19:55

We are the same people.

19:57

The same character.

20:00

The separation between us is always present.

20:04

By this. we raise hatred in all the

20:08

nations surrounding us and give them the power

20:12

to break us.

20:13

What can we do now to prevent the

20:16

next blows?

20:18

We need to make a correction that is

20:21

placed upon us and depends only on us.

20:25

And this is why all humanity depends upon

20:28

us.

20:29

And subconsciously. it feels this dependence.

20:33

And we don't want to recognize this dependence.

20:35

They come to us and pressure and say.

20:38

enough.

20:38

This is what we want.

20:39

Not territories. not peace. and not all kinds

20:43

of things. and not success in all kinds

20:45

of situations.

20:46

We want nothing from you except one thing.

20:50

The method for correcting the world.

20:52

Because the world is deteriorating to a state

20:55

of complete chaos.

20:57

But what in the nature of the Jews

20:59

causes them to return again and again to

21:01

the same ruin?

21:02

What don't we learn from the past?

21:03

This is called a stiff-necked people.

21:06

What would you do if you had such

21:08

a stubborn son who doesn't want to do

21:10

this?

21:11

This is the creator's problem.

21:14

Okay. and how does he solve his problems?

21:18

He puts more and more pressure every year.

21:21

more and more. until we recognize our obligation.

21:26

How is it the nations of the world

21:28

understand this message better than us?

21:30

They don't have the same ego as we

21:33

do.

21:34

They're not connected to the creator directly.

21:38

They're not stiff-necked like us.

21:43

Rav wrote the first books and articles himself.

21:47

But today. with the amount of media coming

21:50

out from the walls of this building. it's

21:53

impossible.

21:54

In these Raiders meetings. Rav exposes the causes.

21:58

the spiritual roots of everything that occurs in

22:01

Israel and the world.

22:02

And we. we type on the keyboard and

22:05

transmit his messages to the world.

22:09

So who's to blame?

22:11

I am the reason that this is happening

22:14

to them. and I need to be the

22:16

reason that they truly connect and speak to

22:19

be as one man with one heart.

22:23

We will then build a connection between us.

22:27

specifically above all the hatred. a connection of

22:31

love.

22:32

And this will be the true third temple.

22:36

As the creator says. my house shall be

22:39

called a house of prayer for all peoples.

22:47

One more question.

22:49

You're a Kabbalist.

22:51

You're in the spiritual worlds.

22:53

Why do you feel the need to deal

22:55

with the matters of our world. with all

22:57

of these changing events?

22:59

I remember the Rabbash. when there was the

23:05

Lebanon war.

23:07

And some Hesed came to see Rav running

23:12

to the radio to turn on the radio.

23:15

So he asked him what happened.

23:19

So I tell him. it's news.

23:21

He wants to hear the news. what's happening

23:24

there in Lebanon.

23:30

So the Rabbash comes back and then he

23:34

says to him. what is the news?

23:37

What is it?

23:38

Does this suit us. faithful Jews?

23:40

What's news?

23:43

Rabbash says. do you have children there?

23:47

And it's true.

23:49

It was really very moving.

23:56

Rav Baruch Aschlag the Rabbash was born in

23:59

the Jewish district of Warsaw in 1907.

24:02

He was the first child in his family

24:05

of the prominent Kabbalist Yehuda HaLevi Aschlag.

24:09

He remained forever his good student and devoted

24:12

successor.

24:13

In 1921. the Rabbash moved with his parents

24:16

to the land of Israel and entered the

24:18

Jerusalem Teratimit Yeshiva.

24:21

There he studied Torah and Kabbalah for 16

24:24

hours a day.

24:25

He got married in 1925.

24:28

Six children were born from this marriage.

24:31

All the years he continued studying Kabbalah under

24:34

his father's guidance and simultaneously worked as a

24:37

construction worker. later as a reinforcement worker. including

24:41

on the Jerusalem Hebron Road and also as

24:45

a shoemaker.

24:46

In addition. he served as an income tax

24:48

inspector.

24:50

The Rabbash dedicated his life to explaining and

24:53

spreading methods for studying Kabbalah in a way

24:56

accessible for the understanding and study by a

24:59

modern generation.

25:00

The Rabbash passed away in 1991 and was

25:04

buried on Har HaMenuchot next to his

25:07

father in Jerusalem.

25:24

It's hard without the Rabbash.

25:30

It's a wall.

25:37

It's life without questions.

27:04

We know that at this hour usually you

27:07

work alone behind a closed door and we

27:11

don't know what you do there.

27:14

I remember once I mustered the courage and

27:16

asked you about this.

27:17

You told me this is the work of

27:19

a Kabbalist.

27:21

And now we want to ask who is

27:23

a Kabbalist?

27:25

A Kabbalist is a person connected with a

27:29

creator and dedicating all his life to how

27:34

to advance towards this.

27:50

Is it possible to express in words what

27:52

a Kabbalist feels?

27:53

I see the upper force that operates within

27:56

humanity and therefore I have my own view.

27:58

my own opinion from this.

28:02

Rav Amos never talks about his spiritual achievements.

28:04

He apparently wants us to rise to these

28:07

stages by ourselves.

28:09

In addition. we learn that it's hard to

28:11

convey in our words impressions from the upper

28:14

world. a rich diverse world.

28:17

But there's a short and very special segment

28:20

in our archive.

28:23

When did you feel the light for the

28:25

first time?

28:28

This I can say because many of my

28:30

students have already gone through this and it's

28:33

possible.

28:34

A person feels the light for the first

28:37

time when he begins studying Kabbalah.

28:42

And suddenly. truly suddenly. some revelation comes to

28:48

him that he feels that he's in a

28:51

sea or in a cloud. I don't know.

28:53

in something dense like that of warmth and

28:58

love that shines on him from all sides.

29:02

And it's as if this world doesn't exist.

29:06

The world does exist and everything but besides

29:09

that he feels how the air is filled

29:13

with a good demeanor. beautiful breathing.

29:18

And this feeling is usually the first meeting

29:22

of a person with the light.

29:26

How can we know that a Kabbalist is

29:28

real?

29:29

Is there a proof of this?

29:31

We can't judge Kabbalists by their writings. by

29:35

their attitude. by their behavior. by nothing.

29:40

Nothing in this is understood and each and

29:42

every one can hide himself so no one

29:46

will see and know.

29:46

Wait. how does it reconcile with the fact

29:48

that there's a Kabbalist like you who has

29:50

millions of students around the world?

29:54

If he feels in his connection with the

29:56

Creator that he must perform some work and

30:00

that he's in a period. let's say like

30:03

ours. that he must perform work with humanity

30:07

and all kinds of other such works. spiritual

30:11

or corporeal. then he performs it.

30:19

During the war with Iraq with Saddam Hussein.

30:27

suddenly I read in the newspaper that this

30:30

Michael Laitman had written a book about Kabbalah.

30:33

The next day I went to the store

30:35

and I bought this book.

30:37

At the end of this book. it was

30:39

written that anyone who read the entire book

30:42

has an invitation and a phone number.

30:46

I called and he asked me. did you

30:49

read to the end?

30:50

I said. yes. really. he said.

30:53

And did you understand everything you read?

30:55

I said. no. no. no. no. no.

30:57

I have many questions.

31:00

He said. come. come. let's talk.

31:15

I came to him and I've been with

31:18

him for 33 years.

31:26

We started studying in Michael Laitman's apartment.

31:32

And with time. more and more people came

31:35

until there was no more room in his

31:38

living room.

31:55

We found some small hut on Rain Street.

31:59

It was a huge place for us.

32:04

And there were morning lessons there. holidays.

32:13

It was an unforgettable time.

32:21

And then the group grew again.

32:23

We felt crowded in our old and pleasant

32:25

buildings. so we rented an industrial building. renovated

32:28

it. created our own television station. and thousands

32:31

of people all over the world listened with

32:33

bated breath to the morning lesson.

32:36

And again. we felt crowded.

32:38

Three thousand people all at once. each decided

32:41

to put in as much as he could.

32:43

and we bought the building.

32:45

We built these walls with our own hands.

32:48

There's a study hall here. study rooms. a

32:51

studio. even a small hall and a larger

32:55

one.

32:56

That is. everything is here to be a

32:58

supportive environment for every person who wants spiritual

33:02

development.

33:03

And the well of life. the initiating leading

33:06

force is Rav Laitman.

33:08

It's the Kabbalist.

33:25

I've traveled enough to the US and South

33:27

America and Russia and Europe and all kinds

33:31

of places and gave lectures and everything.

33:34

I see myself as working with whoever wants

33:37

to listen.

33:44

But with publicity. that's not me.

33:51

I've been abroad with Rav dozens of times.

33:54

both at conferences and on private trips.

33:57

And what characterizes him is that he really

34:00

settles for little.

34:02

He never agreed to fly business class.

34:04

At the airport. when the suitcases arrive. he's

34:07

the first to jump in and bring everyone

34:09

their suitcase.

34:10

He certainly doesn't let anyone carry his suitcase.

34:17

If I were alone without students. no one

34:20

would have heard of me.

34:21

This is how every Kabbalist would do. I'm

34:23

sure.

34:24

What do I get from this?

34:25

I don't receive importance from this.

34:28

I don't need from them neither money nor

34:31

honor nor anything.

34:32

Do you work alone or does somebody help you?

34:35

34:35

We're not talking. of course. about technical work.

34:38

but spiritual work.

34:39

I work alone towards the Creator.

34:42

There are other people. but not beside me.

34:44

outside. according to methods close to Baal HaSulam.

34:48

but different.

34:51

In the history of Kabbalah. there are thousands

34:54

of names that are known to us and

34:56

thousands of names unknown.

34:58

But only a few of them are connected

35:00

to the central changes in the system of

35:02

understanding the upper world.

35:05

One of them is Yehuda Leib HaLevi Ashlag.

35:08

known to us as Baal HaSulam.

35:11

He was born in 1884 in Lukov. 100

35:14

kilometers from Warsaw. the capital of the Kingdom

35:18

of Poland.

35:19

From a young age. he amazed his instructors

35:21

with his brilliant knowledge of all the foundational

35:24

books of Judaism.

35:26

He also became a student of the prominent

35:28

Kabbalists of his time. the Admor of Kalisz

35:32

and the Admor of Pursov.

35:34

Furthermore. he was interested in the works of

35:36

renowned Western philosophers.

35:39

Later on. he would compare their views to

35:41

the view of the science of Kabbalah and

35:43

his articles.

35:44

Since he foresaw the approaching holocaust. Baal HaSulam

35:48

and his family moved to Israel.

35:51

This was in the autumn of 1921. during

35:54

Holomohed Sukkot.

35:56

In Jerusalem. Baal HaSulam was disappointed.

36:00

The local Jews welcomed him with open hostility.

36:04

His idea to spread Kabbalah to the masses

36:06

was not understood by them.

36:08

Moreover. they rejected the wisdom of Kabbalah.

36:12

Thus. despite persecution. Baal HaSolam gathered a group

36:16

of faithful students in the next 30 years

36:19

and created a technique that humanity had not

36:22

known. a scientific translation of an ancient wisdom

36:26

adapted to modern generations.

36:29

He wrote commentaries to all the classical Kabbalah

36:32

books. including the Tree of Life by the

36:34

Ari and the Book of Zohar by Rabbi

36:36

Shimon bar Yochai.

36:38

They were translated into many languages.

36:41

Baal HaSolam passed away in 1954 and left

36:45

his group and teaching methods in the hands

36:47

of the best of his students and his

36:50

firstborn son. Baruch Shalom Ashlag. known as the

36:54

Rabash.

36:55

I drove into Bnei Brak.

36:58

It was rainy and dark.

37:00

An ultra-Orthodox religious man stood at a

37:03

street corner of Rabbi Akiva and Hazon Ish and

37:07

I opened the window a bit like this

37:09

and asked him. where do they study Kabbalah

37:11

here?

37:12

You understand?

37:13

This is. ask him Bnei Brak like that

37:16

and he says. you turn right and drive

37:18

to the end. last house on the left.

37:20

opposite the orchard.

37:22

There they study Kabbalah.

37:24

When I told this to the Rabash. he

37:26

said. that was an angel.

37:33

When I arrived at the Rabash. I saw

37:36

a table and at the table sat five

37:39

old men.

37:40

After a day or two that I was

37:43

there. this environment became for me from five

37:47

old men to the most important in the

37:50

entire world.

37:52

They were really great.

38:02

You're a teacher. the Rabash. did he know

38:05

your future?

38:07

Otherwise. he wouldn't have engaged with me all

38:09

the time.

38:10

After all. it was 12 years. day by

38:12

day. many hours a day.

38:14

Did he immediately see the spark in you?

38:17

He saw it.

38:20

He saw it.

38:25

Rav Dr. Michael Leitman studied with Rav Baruch

38:28

Shalom HaLevi Ashlag. the Rabash.

38:31

The Rabash was the student and son of

38:34

Rav Yehuda Leib HaLevi Ashlag. known by his

38:37

nickname Baal HaSulam.

38:39

Baal HaSulam was the student of Rav Yehoshua

38:42

Rabinovich of Persov.

38:45

And this way. like fresh water. the chain

38:48

of Kabbalists flowed from generation to generation until

38:52

it reached the founder of Hasidism. the Baal

38:55

Shem Tov.

39:31

What does it feel like to bestow?

39:38

You have seven billion people in the world.

39:42

put together all their pleasures.

39:47

Let's say this is a spark compared to

39:52

the light you attain in the highest spiritual

39:55

degree.

40:09

These are the nations of the world who

40:12

want to wash Israel away. to remove them

40:16

from the world.

40:19

And Israel did not break. but rather the

40:22

waves break and cannot wash over the world.

40:34

I can't imagine living abroad.

40:37

There's no other place except here.

40:44

If we bring warmth. reciprocity between us. above

40:49

all the differences. we will create a new

40:54

reality.

41:04

And all that the Creator does to Israel

41:07

when He delivers them bit by bit and

41:11

not all at once.

41:13

It is like a person who is in

41:16

the dark and has always been in the

41:19

dark.

41:20

When you want to give him light. you

41:23

first need to open a small light for

41:27

him. like the eye of a needle. and

41:30

then a little bigger and likewise more each

41:36

time until all the light properly shines for

41:41

him.

41:46

We don't yearn to reveal the spiritual world.

41:53

The truth is. there's nothing to reveal.

41:57

There's nothing to reveal because it doesn't exist.

42:04

We need to build it from our relations.

42:09

from our corrected qualities.
