What Space, Electricity, and Radio Waves Can Teach Us About Kabbalah

Why does space appear dark even though it is filled with countless stars and suns radiating immense amounts of light?

Because light only becomes visible when something reflects it. The universe is flooded with light and energy, but without a physical object to absorb and reflect that light toward us, space appears black.

The same principle applies to electricity. Electrical energy exists throughout nature, but without a conductor to channel it, we cannot use it to power even a single light bulb.

The same is true for electromagnetic waves. Right now, the air around you is filled with music, radio broadcasts, phone calls, GPS signals, and enormous amounts of data moving in every direction. Yet without a receiver tuned to the correct frequency, none of it exists from your perspective. There is only silence.

Nature teaches us a profound principle: it is not enough for something to exist. To perceive it, we must develop the proper instrument capable of detecting it.

According to Kabbalah, the upper force—the universal law of love, bestowal, and connection that governs reality—operates in exactly the same way.

This force is not hidden somewhere far away. It is not reserved for special moments or extraordinary individuals. It permeates all of reality at every moment. Yet to our egoistic perception, it remains completely invisible, just as radio waves remain undetectable without the proper receiver.

The question, therefore, is not whether the upper force exists. The real question is whether we have built within ourselves the instrument capable of perceiving it.

Kabbalists explain that this receiver cannot be built by an individual alone. It is formed specifically in the connection between people.

This is why the framework we call a "ten" or a "research group" plays such a central role. A ten is a small group of ten people who consciously work to rise above their personal interests and create a network of mutual support, connection, care, and bestowal between them.

You can think of it as a spiritual research laboratory.

Each person enters with their natural egoistic desires, opinions, and perceptions. Together, they work on building a new quality of connection above those differences. The goal is not to eliminate individuality or suppress the ego, but to construct a higher level of relationship that transcends it.

As the connection within the ten becomes more aligned with the fundamental quality of nature—bestowal and love—it begins to resonate with that universal force.

Just as a radio receiver suddenly captures a broadcast that was always present in the air, the ten begins to perceive a dimension of reality that was previously hidden.

In this sense, spiritual revelation is not the creation of something new. It is not a miracle, nor is it mysticism.

It is the result of building the right vessel for reception.

The light is already here.

The force is already present.

The only question is whether we are willing to build the receiver capable of sensing it.

This is precisely why it is called the wisdom of Kabbalah. The word Kabbalah comes from the Hebrew word Lekabel—"to receive." It is the method of developing the inner vessel that can receive and reveal the higher reality that already exists around us.

Just as we learn how to build instruments to detect light, electricity, or radio waves, Kabbalah teaches us how to build the instrument capable of receiving the Light—the force of love, bestowal, and connection that sustains all of nature.

The Light does not need to be created. It only needs to be received. And the receiver is built in the connection between us.
