We're Living In a Fake Reality Because Our Egoistic Intention Runs Everything
It's wonderful to be here with all of you today. We want to talk about a very internal topic on the path - our intention. Normally when we talk about acts it's about things we do - helping someone, etc. But internally it's very important to us to see what's behind every single thing we do. We will verify this together today, to see how we can give more value to every thing we do. And to have a better understanding of all the things we do.
So we're very happy you once again chose this Sunday for getting closer to the Creator. What does that actually mean? Where is the Creator? What can I do to get closer to the Creator? Of course the Creator is not some thing or character. In the wisdom of Kabbalah we don't speak of the Creator as some entity. And just as Rav always did - he starts every lesson by saying today we'll talk about the most important topic in the wisdom of Kabbalah - intention.
Our entire world is a very practical world - people are measured by production, results, profit. We also live like that in our world. And along comes the wisdom of Kabbalah and adds a new term to my life - intention. Is it in my heart, thoughts, desires. It's in my will to receive so how does an intention dress in it. Where is it in the general map of our spiritual advancement.
Why do I do something? The more we think about this before, during and after anything we do over and over - it's possible that something spiritual will come out of us. We are in the upper light - at the peak of its development - the will to receive can be filled with the light in a perfect and eternal way. It's made up of a will to receive and intention. Intention is about giving back to the Creator love and bestowal as we receive from him. The entire purpose of the world was for this to take place. When we get filled with light, we feel the nature of the light. We understand that the greatest thing is not to receive the light but to be similar to the Him, meaning to develop an intention like His. This is why we go through all kinds of processes where finally we find ourselves in this world constantly calculating how we can receive more.
Until one day our point in the heart is awakened and we find ourselves here. And we learn how to receive in a way where we constantly receive more. This is why we need an intention of love and bestowal like the Creator's. This is why we have the sources, the study with our friends also learning the same method. This way we have a place to practice all these things in our ten. In Hebrew the word intention is from the word kavana - meaning direction. Where am I directing my life? So essentially we wake up for the study to think about my entire purpose, existence and prayer. What do I want to come out of me? To continue swallowing as much as I can here? Or is there something higher? Suiting myself to the upper light demands of me to verify as many times as possible - what is my intention, what am I asking for? Even during this lesson. Rav says that this intention can transition us from one world to another. There is no person that does something without any intention.
So we're always being pushed to fill ourselves for the sake of receiving. It's there managing everything from inside. But if I feel there is a greater purpose to my life - this verification goes through my intention, to be like the light. To be love and bestowal like He is. How does this happen? I have no idea. But I just know that this is my pursuit in life.
So let's all stop and think for a moment - why did we come to this lesson? What do we want to see happen? Where will this take me? Now we understand that there is an act and an intention - and we need to connect them somehow.
Clip 4: What are the tools for correcting intention?
Question: What are the tools we use to correct our intention? Could it be that this is something that happens out of persistence and effort in our thinking?
We have notes from the breaking of the first Adam, this reshimo that is in each and every one pushes the desires of each and every one to reach the same form as we were in the first Adam. Only that in the way after the breaking, in order to return to the same form, we now need to acquire a screen. That is, an anti-egoistic force that will help us connect above our ego.
In the first Adam, we were connected by the power of the Creator, and through the breaking, that power of connection became the power of disconnection, the distance between us, and now we need that power of distance, the disconnection between us, to become our power of connection.
That is, to turn the difficulties into merit by working on making efforts to acquire a screen, returning light and connection above our ego. Then we reach a state where we establish our power of connection and build a spiritual world, above the physical world. Two worlds. And so we build one against the other. Michael Laitman
We're Living In a Fake Reality Because Our Egoistic Intention Runs Everything
If we want to live in an eternal and whole reality that's above death, suffering and everything else, we have this internal thing driving us to discover the upper force. Where does this thing pulling us upward come from? From the shattering of the general soul - the soul of the first man. It's made up of many desires - and the upper light is in it because all these personal desires are directed at being like the source - full of love and bestowal. But the sin of the first man shattered it. In order to develop a person to acquire this attribute for himself - that he chose it and it not being something the Creator chose for him. It had to be shattered first. How? By disconnecting it completely. So every desire is closed inside itself - this is where we swallow anything that's not me.
We are a result of this shattering that happens in us at any given moment. It's always putting me in a position of myself against others - anything that's not me. It puts me in a position how to use everything that's not me - for myself. This is what distances us from the Creator. The Creator is all about bestowal and giving. This is how I find myself in Bnei Baruch with the friends and all the necessary conditions for reaching correction. All the verifications I need for this is in the field of intentions. I ask for help from above to go from the field of being disconnected to the field of being connected. Once I acquire the attribute of bestowal I'll be able to attract more souls to the general soul of man. So in this field we have between us we need to verify all these things that will bring us closer to Him.
